Deuteronomy 30:19

"I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live."

Part 1 - Choosing Life.

The commandments of God are not difficult to obey or follow.

When you obey God, you are not doing it for yourself alone but also for your descendants, your generations to come.

It does not matter where you are today or what you have done; what matter is what choice will you be making today? The choices between life and death, blessing and cursing are forever standing till Jesus come; all you have to do is make a choice. The day you choose to choose life is the day you start living; as the saying goes, "Life does not begin at conception, Life begins in Jesus. Choosing life is choosing Christ.

In John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life...", and John 3:16 says "... whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life", the life that cannot be destroyed, not even by death. So, Jesus is life! John 10:10.

How Do You Choose Life?

Romans 10:10 - "For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved".

1. Believe. You choose life by believing with your heart that Jesus died for you to be saved, His blood shed for the remission of your sins, and He rose again for your justification. He liberated you from the power of sin, hell, and satan, out of darkness into God's marvelous light.

2. Confession. Confess your believe with your mouth. Romans 10:13 made us understand that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, notice the verse didn't say, some people, only the righteous, only good people or only the church people, it says "whosoever", so start confessing Jesus and calling the name of the Lord now.

Part 2 - Great future for you and your descendants.

Now, notice that the scripture did not end at choosing, it went further to say that after you have chosen life, that both you and your descendants will live.

This simply means the well being of your descendants is dependent on the choice you make today. Most people suffer today because of what their parents didn't do, the best gift you can give to your children is salvation, teaching them to know Jesus early in life, so that when you're not there and the world seems hard and there is no one to turn to, they will turn to God, they will pray and have the hope and faith they need to live through that circumstance and overcome it instead of turning to the world or taking wrong decisions that could be detrimental to their lives. It is important to lay a godly foundation for our children, just as Abraham and Issac, David and Solomon, etc.

Psalm 37:25-26 - "I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing".

My recommendation for you today is to choose life and profess Christ. Get a bible if you don't have one and study it daily, it is your manual for life, everything you need to know about living right is written in the scriptures. If you have not made Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life, pray this prayer and start a new life in Christ.

Dear Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe with my heart that You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I confess with my mouth that You are my Lord and Savior, I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. Thank You for saving me, in Jesus Name, I pray. Amen.
